El término peer-to-peer, o P2P para abreviar, seguramente ya ha sido utilizado por uno u otro. Esto significa un tipo de red informática. Pero le diremos exactamente qué es P2P en este consejo práctico.
¿Qué es peer-to-peer?
Peer-to-peer (del inglés "peer": "peer", "peer") se refiere a redes de computadoras en las que varias computadoras están interconectadas y trabajan juntas.
- Las computadoras se proporcionan entre sí con funciones, servicios y archivos. Las computadoras pueden ser completamente iguales o divididas en grupos con diferentes autorizaciones.
- Por lo tanto, no hay un servidor central aquí, por lo que P2P es una red descentralizada. A diferencia de las redes centrales, las redes P2P son menos susceptibles a fallas totales y los ataques externos también pueden hacer que la red sea más difícil de paralizar.
- Las llamadas redes súper pares son un desarrollo adicional de la red punto a punto. Los poderosos miembros pares se interponen aquí como servidores centrales que organizan la red.

- P2P es adecuado para grupos de trabajo, por ejemplo en una oficina. Los empleados pueden acceder a todas las computadoras en la red e intercambiar archivos y recursos. También es posible compartir periféricos como escáneres o impresoras a través de P2P.
- Las redes de super pares se utilizan para servicios de VoIP como Skype. Las conversaciones no se ejecutan a través de un servidor central, sino a través de nodos (supernodos) entre los usuarios individuales.
- La mayoría de los servicios para compartir archivos, como BitTorrent, también se basan en punto a punto. A diferencia de las descargas convencionales, los archivos no solo se descargan de un servidor, sino que se "comparten" entre los usuarios, lo que significa que también se vuelven a cargar a otros participantes en la red. El intercambio de obras protegidas por derechos de autor está prohibido de esta manera en Alemania.
- Peer-to-peer también juega un papel decisivo en la computación distribuida (computación descentralizada): el término describe la distribución de subprocesos individuales en varias computadoras en red, que luego se unen para producir un resultado común. Esta tecnología se utiliza en investigación, por ejemplo.
- El cifrado punto a punto (generalmente: cifrado de extremo a extremo) también se basa en este principio. Los datos se cifran antes de la transmisión y se descifran después de la recepción. El remitente y el destinatario están vinculados por igual, lo que permite una comunicación segura.
- En finanzas, los "préstamos entre pares" se refieren a los préstamos o préstamos de préstamos entre dos personas sin una institución financiera que actúe como intermediario. Dichos préstamos generalmente se otorgan a través de Internet.
